Newell G. Bringhurst

Newell G. BringhurstNewell G. Bringhurst, PhD recently retired from twenty-five years as an instructor of history and political science at College of the Sequoias in Visalia, California, where he has lived with his wife Mary Ann and their daughter.

Newell is the author or editor of numerous books, including Saints, Slaves and Blacks, Excavating Mormon Pasts: The New Historiography of the Last Half Century, and Reconsidering No Man Knows My History.

Bringhurst's lifelong interest in the broader Latter Day Saint movement began in 1977 with an article on schismatic Mormon leader Charles Blancher Thompson. Bringhurst is an active member and a past president of both the Mormon History Association and the John Whitmer Historical Association.
